Frequently asked questions
How do I make a photo under 1 MB / 2 MB for an upload form?
Choose Medium quality — a typical 4–8 MB phone photo compresses to 300 KB–1 MB. If it's still too big, use our Image Resizer to reduce the dimensions first.
Does compressing reduce photo quality?
JPG compression is lossy, but at Medium–High settings the difference is rarely visible on screen. Keep an original if you may need to print large.
Why does my PNG come out as a JPG?
PNGs are converted to JPG because it compresses photographs far more efficiently. For graphics needing transparency, keep the PNG original.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit — processing is local, so it depends on your device's memory. Phone photos of any normal size are fine.
