Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between an owner password and an open password?
An owner password restricts actions (printing, copying) on a file you can already read — this tool removes those. An open password encrypts the file so it can't even be viewed; no legitimate tool can bypass that without the password.
Is it legal to unlock a PDF?
Removing restrictions from documents you own or have rights to use is generally fine — bank statements, your own reports, files you've been sent to use. Don't use it to violate someone's copyright or an agreement.
Why does my PDF still ask for a password?
It has an open password (encryption), not just restrictions. You'll need the password from whoever created it — enter it once, then this tool can save an unrestricted copy.
Does unlocking change the content?
No — pages, text and images are untouched. Only the restriction flags are removed.
