Frequently asked questions
How long should a password be in 2026?
At least 16 characters for anything important. The UK's National Cyber Security Centre also endorses three random words (e.g. from a passphrase) as a memorable alternative for accounts you type often.
Is it safe to generate a password online?
Here, yes — generation uses your browser's crypto.getRandomValues() locally. The password never leaves your device, isn't logged, and we can't see it.
Should I use the same password on multiple sites?
No — reuse is the single biggest password risk. If one site is breached, attackers try that password everywhere. Use a password manager so every account is unique.
Are random passwords better than memorable ones?
Random is stronger per character, but the best password is one you'll actually use uniquely — a password manager plus random passwords, with a strong memorable passphrase protecting the manager itself, is the standard recommendation.
