How to Reduce Image Size to 100KB Without Losing Quality
If your upload keeps failing because the image is “too large”, this fixes it in minutes.
Why uploads get rejected
- Your image file size is over the limit (often 100KB, 200KB, or 1MB).
- The dimensions are too large (e.g., 4000×3000).
- You’re using the wrong format (PNG is often bigger than JPG).
Best method: compress to an exact KB target
Instead of guessing, use a tool that compresses down to your exact limit.
Do this:
- Open: Reduce Image Size to Exact KB
- Upload your photo
- Select 100KB (or set custom KB)
- Download the result
What if it still won’t reach 100KB?
- Set a Max width (e.g., 1200px)
- Convert PNG to JPG (JPG compresses better)
- Crop unnecessary background: Crop Image
Quick fixes for common upload requirements
- Passport/visa uploads: crop to the correct ratio first.
- Job portals: keep it sharp, avoid over-compression.
- Government forms: aim for 100KB–300KB.
